This Week In History: The Breakers turns back into a hotel after service as wartime hospital

Dec. 10, 1944, was the official end of the federal government’s $800,000 lease of the Breakers Hotel. The hotel was used as an army hospital from 1942 to 1944. The Breakers formally reopened on Jan. 7, 1945.
