Twitter Passes 200 Million Monthly Active Users for a 42% Increase Over Nine Months
Twitter has soared to new heights with a record number of monthly active users. Over the past nine months, the social media service has seen a whopping 42 percent increase in the size of its active user base for a total of 200 million monthly active users and 400 million tweets each day. TechCrunch.com reported on how Twitter’s rapid rise shows that the sky’s the limit for the growth of this popular platform.
Twitter had proudly publicized that it had surpassed 140 million active users and reached 340 million tweets a day back in March when the company celebrated its sixth anniversary. Six months prior to that announcement, in September 2011, Twitter had reached the milestone of 100 million monthly active users. Since last September, the social network’s monthly user base has grown by an astounding 100 percent.
Comparing Twitter’s rate of growth at these intervals, it’s clear that the social network has expanded its active user base at a steady pace. This bodes well for the future of Twitter as it continues to introduce new features and opportunities that will keep its users tweeting.
